Tom Palkert, Open Eye MSA Standards Editor, Open Eye MSA (MODERATOR)

Tom has worked on high speed SERDES, connector and interconnect designs from 100Mbps to 112Gbps. He is involved in Ethernet, Fibre channel, Infiniband and the Optical Internetworking Forum. In addition he has been editor of many SFF and MSA documents including SFP, QSFP, CDFP and QSFP-DD.  Tom is a past member of the OIF board of directors, past chair of the OIDA silicon photonics alliance and is currently chair of the Fibre Channel T11.2 Physical Layer Task Group and vice chair of the OIF Physical and Link Layer (PLL) working group. He has BS and MS degrees from the University of Minnesota and 5 patents.


 

Greg Le Cheminant, Measurement Applications Specialist, Digital Communications Analysis, Internet Infrastructure Solutions, Keysight

Greg Le Cheminant is a Measurement Applications Specialist and Strategic Planner for digital communications analysis products in the Internet Infrastructure Solutions Group. He is responsible for development of new measurement applications and products for the group’s optical communications test products. He represents Keysight on several industry standards committees.

Greg’s experience at Keysight/Agilent/Hewlett-Packard began in 1985 with five years in manufacturing engineering, and the remainder in various technical marketing positions. He is a contributing author to four textbooks on high-speed digital communications and has written numerous technical articles on test related topics. Greg earned BSEET and MSEE degrees from Brigham Young University.


 

Mark Kimber, Principal Product Definition Specialist, Semtech

Mark Kimber is the Principal Product Definition Specialist at Semtech Corporation. Mark received the BE (Elect) degree from the University of Queensland in 1984. Since then he has worked on research and product development at GEC Hirst Research Centre, STC Laboratories, Bell Northern Research, Nortel, Bookham, Gennum and Semtech. Mark currently works on product definition for Semtech products and is a contributor to various standards groups.


 

Marek Tlalka, Senior Director of Marketing, High Performance Analog, MACOM

Marek Tlalka is the Senior Director of Marketing for High Performance Analog at MACOM. Prior to joining MACOM, Marek worked at Mindspeed Technologies, Luxtera, Conexant, Applied Digital Access and GTE Communications Systems. Marek has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications field covering areas such as Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and Sales. Marek received his BSEE from Illinois Institute of Technology and his MBA from San Diego State University.


 

Frank Chang, Chief Engineer, Source Photonics

Frank Chang is an expert in photonic IC technologies, optics transceivers, and optical networking. He is currently Source Photonics’ Chief Engineer for advanced and next-generation transceiver design. Previously he served as a senior Principal Engineer for Optics Interconnect within the CTO Optics Office at Inphi Corporation for over 5 years after over 12 years of service at Vitesse Semiconductors. In addition, he also held various project and management positions with Cisco/Pirelli, and JDS Uniphase, working on the design, development, and commercialization of fiber optics components. Frank recently published the industry first DCI book entitled “Datacenter Connectivity Technologies: Principles and Practice”. He is a frequent conference speaker, co-authored 100 plus regular journal and conference papers, and has served in ECOC and OFC technical committees for several years in a row. Frank was the president and now among the board and advisors at Photonic Society of Chinese-Americans (PSC-SC). He is the Industry Forum & Exhibition (IF&E) Chair for Globecom 2015 in San Diego, Globecom 2019 in Hawaii and now ICC 2024 in Denver with IEEE Communication Society. Frank obtained his Ph.D degree in Optoelectronics from the Ecole Polytechnique, University of Montreal, Canada for his research thesis on ultrafast optical generation of 1550nm tunable solid-state lasers. Besides Frank is senior member of IEEE and OSA Fellow.


 

Yung Son, CTO and CMO, Optomind

Yung invented and developed very unique optical engine platform based on self-aligned optical assembly at Optomind. Currently he is doing technical marketing as well. Optomind is a global leader in advanced active optical cable (AOC) solution including DSP-free 400G PAM4 SR products. Yung holds over 40 patents related to optical interconnects. He holds a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from KAIST.
